The Lovin' Award recognizes young visionaries who are involved in programs that foster respect, inclusion and a true personal connection for people with intellectual or other differences.
The Lovin’ Award is all about young people who want to make a difference. Kaitlyn epitomizes that sentiment. She has been involved in Unified Sports for six years, playing basketball and soccer. As a member of the Youth Activation Committee for the last four years, Kaityn organized four Spread the Word to End the Word campaigns through out the state of Connecticut. She also organized an End the Word campaign at Berlin High School. As president of her school's National Honor Society Kaitlyn mobilized members of the organization to become actively involved with Unified Programs.
The Director of Unified Sports, Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, George Synnott had this to say about Kaitlyn in his letter of recommendation, “She is a powerful advocate for Unified Sports and articulates the role that Unified plays in bringing about meaningful inclusion for students with disabilities… Through her efforts Kaitlyn Guild has helped to make Berlin High School a place where students with disabilities are accepted and respected. She is a remarkable young lady who is well deserving of your recognition”.
